When we meet someone for the first time, we might ask them questions, analyze their tone, or observe their body language to get to know them better. When a dog meets another dog, they might first analyze the body language including the tail, ears, mouth and then they might go in for the big reveal, a Butt Sniff. Typically, the first dog to initiate Butt Sniffing is the more dominant one.
Every dog’s butt has a unique smell due to 2 small anal glands that secrete an odor that is exclusive to that particular dog. Think of a dog’s rear end being the equivalent of a passport full of information and the action of sniffing can be compared to a handshake.
When a dog sniffs another dog’s butt, they can tell where another dog has been, what they had for dinner, whether they have met the other dog before, if they are healthy, a candidate for dating, and, if they are old friends, determine what their friend has been up to.
Research has indicated that by allowing dogs to use Olfaction through Nose Work activity makes them more optimistic. So, when a dog engages in Butt Sniffing, some pet parents might find it gross and embarrassing but it’s a totally normal and healthy behavior as long as the dogs butt that is being sniffed is ok with it.
Do dogs like to be hugged?
We recently celebrated National Hug your Dog Day but there is some debate on whether dogs actually enjoy being hugged.
Some dogs are just the cutest snuggle bunnies but there are those will get really turned off or aggressive if hugged. Dogs do not have arms for hugging. Humans or Primates love to hug but dogs sometimes do not like to be hugged because it may be perceived as dominance. Dogs also have the fight or flight instinct so if a dog senses danger he must be ready to defend himself or avoid a fight and run. Being restrained does not allow them to flee.
So, the next time you are hugging your dog watch closely to see if they squirm, tense up, try and get away or, maybe just melt into your arms.
Obviously, there are still many dogs that love to hug or be close to you. After all they are pack animals.
Tip-Never let a young child hug a dog they are not familiar with as this can lead to a serious bite.
What does it mean when a dog Stares?
Many dogs also avoid staring directly into another dog’s eyes. If you are gazing lovingly into your dog’s eyes they might even avert your eye contact. Staring directly into a dog’s eyes can be intimidating for submissive dogs and stressful for dominant dogs (Ready to Rumble?)
When dogs typically greet at least one will avert eye contact slightly signaling they are non-confrontational. Several of my own dogs averted eye contact with me probably because I was the so-called Alpha. A gentle one.
]]>With millions unemployed due to COVID-19 and people desperate for money, violent robberies have become commonplace and brazen thieves will even attack dog parents while walking their dog to attempt a snatch-and-grab.
According to the AKC (American Kennel Club) almost 2 Million dogs are stolen a year. During the pandemic more people have been isolated in their homes which has created an increased demand for pets which has fueled increased pet theft.
One of a pet parents biggest fear is their dog got stolen and rightfully so. Its paralyzing thinking of your fur-baby (child) going missing.
Popular stolen breeds include French Bulldogs. They are high value and can fetch $2,000-$6,500. Koji and Gustav were Frenchies belonging to Lady Gaga that were violently swiped away in broad daylight from a pet sitter. They were recovered but it is not certain whether the $500,000 reward Lady Gaga offered was paid. Smaller breeds can fetch big bucks including, Yorkies, Chihuahas and Pomeranians that are light and easy to snatch and conceal. Some pet stores sell teacup Pomeranians for up to $10,000 to the fashion set.
Chances are if you have a larger protective breed like a German Shepherd, Great Dane, Argentinian Dogo, Rottweiller or Presa Canario criminals will think twice about stealing them as these dogs can resist, are harder to hide and thieves want to avoid getting a serious injury.
French Bulldogs sell for up to $6,500
Teacup Pomeranians sell for up to $10,000
A rare Tibetan Mastiff with lion blood was sold in China for $1,950,000
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels fetch up to $4,000
German Shepherds that are “Protection Trained” can cost up to $80,000 (Thieves would surely keep away from “Protection Trained” dogs)
Criminals do not fear the consequences of dog theft in some states as its a misdemeanor with the possibility of no or some jail time and only a small fine. In NYC now for the past couple of years criminals are arrested and released almost immediately so dog theft to criminals can be insignificant but financially rewarding.
Because 1/3 of dogs get lost once in their lifetime make sure your dog is microchipped and it might not be a bad idea investing in a GPS collar as well
]]>1.Enteric Canine Coronavirus (CCov) is a highly infectious intestinal condition but the good news is that there are routine vaccines that are administered to prevent it. Canine Coronavirus may be spread via contact with oral secretions, feces, contaminated food bowls and unsanitary conditions. Coronavirus can remain infectious for extended periods outdoors even during frozen temperatures. Symptoms include Depression, Inappetence, Vomiting, Fever and yellow to orange Diarrhea and last typically 2-10 days.
According to Dr. Ronald Schultz Professor and Chair of Pathobiological sciences at the University of Madison Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, Canine Coronavirus (CCov) vaccines administered to puppies may last a lifetime.
2.Respiratory Canine Coronavirus (CRCoV) has no vaccine to protect against this respiratory condition. It is typically a mild disease consisting of cough, sneezing, and nasal discharge. Clinical signs usually resolve after 1-2 weeks, depending on whether co-infection with other pathogens are involved.
3.COVID-19 Disease (Caused by Coronavirus(CoV) named SARS-COV-2) Current Global Pandemic
Approx. 60 US dogs/cats are reported to be infected with the virus after close contact with people with COVID-19
Infected pets might get sick or, they might not have any symptoms. Of the pets that have gotten sick, most only had mild illness and fully recovered. According to the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) clinical signs may include; Fever, Coughing, Difficulty Breathing or Shortness of Breath, Lethargy, Sneezing, Nasal Discharge, Ocular Discharge, Vomiting and Diarrhea. Always call your veterinarian if you suspect your pet is sick.
According to the CDC there is no evidence that animals play a significant role in spreading the virus that causes COVID-19 to people.
Cats can spread the infection to the same species in laboratory settings. We have not found any information on dogs spreading the infection.
1.It is recommended to not let pets interact with people outside the household.
2.Keep cats indoors.
3.Never cover your pets face with a mask. It can restrict breathing, panting (sweating) or get tangled up.
4.Do not bathe your pet with chemicals, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, or other toxic products such as sanitizing counter wipes or hand wipes. These can be toxic to your pets and are not necessary.
5.Protect pets if you have contracted COVID-19 .(If possible) Have another member of your household care for your pets while you are sick. Avoid contact with your pet including petting, snuggling, being kissed or licked, sharing food, and sleeping in the same bed. If you must care for your pet or be around pets while you are sick, wear a mask, and wash your hands before and after you interact with them.

Some of us cannot get enough of the summer sun and others dread the thought of walking to the car and sweating profusely. The sun has many health benefits including; Improving our mood by increasing serotonin, providing Vitamin D to reduce inflammation, lowering blood pressure and, improving our sleep.
The Sun also gives energy to the growing green plants that provide the food and oxygen for life on Earth.
While many of our canine friends love to baste in the sun they do not gain the same health benefits as us because they cannot absorb Vitamin D very well.
Our dogs are domesticated and reliant on us so they do not always possess the logic and instinct to avoid dehydration or heat stroke. As pet parents, we are responsible for making wise decisions to protect our pets against the collateral damage of the sun.
Dogs do not sweat like us but they release a bit of moisture from the footpads and inner part of they/re legs. To sweat, they mostly pant through their mouths which is an inefficient way to cool themselves down.
How to keep your pets Safe and Cool during this Scorching Hot Summer
NOTE- Even leaving the air conditioner on in a parked car in extreme heat can force a car engine to overheat and an air compressor to shut down. Imagine your dog in a car on a hot day with no air conditioning. If you sat in the car yourself with no air conditioning on a hot day it would be unbearable in just a few minutes. With your dog's inability to sweat properly it is much, much worse.
IMPORTANT -If you see a dog left alone in a hot car, take down the car’s color, model, make, license plate number, and location of the car and call the Police.
Brachycephalic Dog Breeds
Frenchies, Pugs and Bulldogs are the most likely to suffer respiratory distress because of their flat faces resulting in excessive panting and poor breathing. These dogs must be kept cool at all times and not exposed to heat for lengthy periods
Pool Safety
If you have a pool hopefully it's enclosed and make sure your dog is never left alone because if they jump or fall in the pool and you only have a ladder some dogs cannot climb up and will repeatedly try to scale the pool liner which is slippery. Things like the SKAMPER RAMP help dogs safely escape a pool and they can be trained very easily to use it.
Signs of heatstroke
1.Excessive panting
2.Rapid heart rate
3.Pale gums
4.Weakness or confusion
5.Salivation or Drooling
6.Vomiting or Diarrhea
If you suspect your dog has heatstroke call your vet and in the meantime bring them in an air-conditioned room, soak a towel in cool water and drape it over them or immerse them in a kiddy pool or bathtub using cool (not cold) water
Dehydration is no laughing matter. If left untreated it can lead to organ damage and even death.
Signs of dehydration
How to confirm your dog is dehydrated?
Capillary Refill Time
If your dog allows you in his mouth press on the gums for one second and release. The gums will turn white and should turn red again in 1-2 seconds or they could be dehydrated or even in shock. Dehydration is also evident if the gums are dry.. If your dog's mouth is an area that is off-bounds then pull the skin just above the neck and release to assess hydration. If the skin stays in place when pulled and does not go back to its original position it could also be a sign of dehydration.
How to Deal with Dehydration
If your dog is drinking water and keeping it down they might be fine but if your dog is refusing water and has signs listed above call your Vet immediately. Your Vet might administer an I.V. drip of Subcutaneous fluids to increase hydration and electrolytes
Summer Safety Products
1.Skamper Ramp to help dogs exit pools easily
2.Kool Collar drips cold water down your dog's neck
3. Whether your dog likes to swim in the ocean or a lake a Dog Life Preserver can be a lifesaver
4.Doggles is one of our favorite products as it protects eyes against UV rays and flying objects when a dog sticks their head outside a window in a moving car and it reduces glare
5.Cooling Dog Pads (Too many to mention) but will keep your dog more comfortable
6. Pawz Dog Boots are great for all seasons and will help prevent pawburn
]]>Dogs do not have the understanding, cognitive ability, or correct anatomy to help themselves during a choking crisis. They cannot reach into their mouths because they do not have hands, nor can they call for help or even understand what they need to do to remove the item that is causing them to choke.
With over 200,000 dog choking incidents a year it is something that we should all need to be aware of in the event of an emergency. Some dogs will swallow just about anything and If an airway becomes totally obstructed a dog can pass out and possibly even perish
Dogs present choking in a different manner then we do.
Here are signs your dog could be choking.
-Pawing at their face
-Blue gums
-Pacing frantically
-Whistling sound as obstructed air is trying to get through
What items cause Dog Choking
-Balls that are too small and can get lodged in your dog's throat
-The most common items include; socks, underwear, pantyhose, rocks, balls, chew toys, corn cobs, bones, hair ties, and sticks.
-Dental floss, cords, rope, elastics can also cause choking hazards and even worse get twisted inside the stomach or intestines.
-Foods are always tempting to dogs but when they have been wrapped in plastic or string it poses a choking hazard.
-Rawhide is hard to break down and may provide a choking hazard if a dog tries to swallow a large piece whole
Bully Sticks are fully digestible but should be taken away when they are small enough for a dog to swallow them.
Preventing choking hazards - Dogproof your house
-Supervise dogs when consuming chews (Bully Sticks, Jerky, Tracheas, Tendons, Pig Ears…)
-If you have puppies in the house do not leave them alone with treats, stuffed animals, or toys. Unless of course, they are durable toys like a Kong which they cannot chew through.
-Don’t leave personal items or foods within paws reach if your dog is a counter surfer.
-If your dog likes personal items like socks or pantyhose then keep them in s basket or hamper.
-Supervise dogs outdoors. Some dog parents have been completely unaware that their dogs were eating rocks until their dogs had physical issues including obstructions that required surgery
Tips
If your dog loves to chew find a durable dog toy like a Kong and freeze it with some chicken soup or put some peanut butter in it to keep your dog busy when your out.
Try some problem-solving treat dispensing toys to keep your dog's mind stimulated or if you have the money consider an automated treat dispenser that can keep your dog occupied so they are less likely to become bored and look for objects to swallow.
Most dogs instinctually want to chew so providing them with a Bully Stick once a day will satisfy their need to chew and also keep their teeth clean.
If your dog likes to chew wood, carpet or household items add some Bitter End or Cayenne Pepper to the area so the taste is undesirable (Always color test the area first to avoid stains if you are using peppers.)
We recommend desensitizing dogs when they are puppies by reaching into their mouths and providing a reward so they associate reaching into their mouth with a positive reward
What to do if your dog is choking
Heimlich Maneuver for Smaller Dogs
Carefully hold your dog on your lap and turn them onto their back, then using the palm of your hand apply pressure right beneath the rib cage and push firmly inwards and upwards 5 times in a thrusting motion. Roll your dog back onto their side and check their mouth for the food or object that was causing the issue.
Heimlich Maneuver for Medium and Large Dogs
If your dog is standing, put your arms around them so your hands join at the abdomen. Then make a fist with your hands and firmly and swiftly push up and forward five times in a thrusting motion - much like you would perform the maneuver on a human.
Doing this should dislodge the food, but be sure to check the mouth and help remove any food that may be loose in the back of your dog's mouth so he doesn't choke or swallow what was previously bothering him.
If your dog is laying on the floor, place one hand on the dog's back and use the other hand to push or squeeze their abdomen upwards and forwards towards the spine, then check your dog's mouth for the offending object.
If the choking stops and their airways have been obstructed for any period of time and they have been depleted of oxygen its best to call your Vet
IMPORTANT -Try desensitizing puppies by reaching into their mouths and providing a reward after they allow you to so they associate reaching into their mouths as a positive action.
NOTE-Don’t confuse Reverse Sneezing with Choking. Watch a youtube video so you can see what Reverse Sneezing is. It is very common in small dogs.
Don’t think your dog could ever swallow something large? Take a look at what these Dog Xrays revealed and although they did not cause choking hazards they did create obstructions and required surgeries

10 Golf Balls Swallowed
7 Corn Cobs Swallowed
Pica in dogs is a health condition characterized by the compulsive ingestion of non-food items like cloth, plastic, wood, paper, or even rocks. Dogs with pica might be obsessed with eating one type of non-food item or they might eat anything they can get their paws on.
TREATMENT AND PREVENTION OF PICA
If there isn’t an underlying medical condition, the following measures can be taken to help prevent pica and treat the behavioral issue.

]]>All dogs need to chew. Chewing makes them happy. Some dogs can chew for hours and hours without losing interest. It helps relieve anxiety and they find it very stimulating. Chewing also massages the gums and strengthens the jaws.
Whether you like it or not, your dogs are going to chew things… but WHAT they chew is up to you. If you do not provide your dog with something safe to chew they might resort to some destructive chewing and destroy valuable things at home and possibly even injure themselves
Bully Sticks are also referred to as bull sticks, pizzle sticks, pizzles, bull pizzles and steer sticks and are the best treat to satisfy a dog’s need to chew safely. .Typically from bulls, but they can also be sheep, pig, buffalo or bison (water buffalo pizzles from India are often cleverly marketed as 'bison' bully sticks, but bison are only found in the colder climates of North America and Europe. Buffalo come from Asia and Africa.
1. KEEPS TEETH AND GUMS HEALTHY
Bully sticks help to remove plaque and tartar from your dogs’ teeth as they chew. So now, your dogs can brush their own teeth and have FUN doing it! Cleans teeth, massages gums and promotes good dental health.
Most treats like cookies last seconds, leaving your dog begging for more. Bully sticks are one of the longest-lasting treats keeping your dogs occupied so you can have some uninterrupted time. For best results, be sure to get the right size bully stick for the chewing power of your dog. For example, you will be disappointed if you order a 6" standard stick for a 70 lb golden retriever
Show me a dog that does not crave Beef and we would be very surprised. This is not processed pet food but real beef so the combination of real beef and a chew is irresistible to most dogs.
Rawhide can cause intestinal blockages and punctures that can lead to costly surgery and sometimes, even death. Rawhide is not BEEF, but rather toxic treated skin that is a by-product of the leather industry.
Dogs LOVE to chew – they NEED to chew. And if you don’t give your dogs something SAFE to chew, they’ll chew electric cords, clothes, shoes or furniture. Some dogs will even wear their teeth down chewing on hard objects like rocks if no Bully Sticks safely satisfy your dog’s need to chew.
100% Natural Single-Ingredient beef protein (ideal for dogs with non-beef allergies.) which is a complete source of amino acids and supports your dog’s muscles, brain, skin, and coat. Like human pizzles, bully sticks will come in a variety of colors and shapes. Many Bullys are shaped like carrots with a thin and a thick end. Bully Sticks should be graded by weight, NOT circumference.
♦Large dogs or extreme power-chewers - 12” Extra Thick, Jumbo, Monster
♦Medium dog, moderate chewers 6” or 12" Thick, Jumbo, Braided
♦Older dogs or dogs with sensitive teeth 6” or 12" Steer, Thin, Pretzels, Rings, Spirals
♦Small dogs – 4"-6” Thin or Standard, Bully Bites, Pretzels, Rings, Spirals
♦Very Small dogs (Toys and Teacups) – 4"-6” Extra Thin, Thin, X-Thin Steers, Steer bites
♦Overweight Dogs that need portion control – 4"-6” Thin or Standard, Bully Bites, Pretzels, Rings, Spirals
* Do not give bully bites to dogs who tend to inhale hard chews rather than chew on them as these can cause a choking hazard.
♦Spirals or Bully Springs are a great way to floss your dog’s teeth, massage their gums and give them a delicious, healthy dog treat
♦Some dogs appreciate really rank, awful smelling Bully Sticks. We call them Stinky Sticks. There is only speculation as to why dogs roll in stinky things and enjoy eating foods with awful odor but as far as odor goes one of the reasons could be that they are just marking themselves with their favorite things to impress other dogs. You just might consider offering Stinky Bully Sticks outside, so you don’t smell up the house.
♦On a scale of 1-10: odor-free is 0-1, low-odor is 2-4, moderate odor is 5-7 and full odor is 8-10. Some batches will have more of an odor than others. Since Bully Sticks are natural products that vary from batch to batch. The odor is subjective.
♦Never leave your dog unattended with a Bully stick to avoid choking hazards
♦Remove the Bully Stick when it is small enough to swallow. Because some dogs can be possessive don’t try and pull it out of their mouth as you can risk getting bitten. Instead, tell them to “drop” or “release.” This will involve some training.
NOTE- Another option is to purchase a “Bully Stick Holder” designed to grip the remaining piece so your dog cannot access it.
♦Do not offer Bully Sticks if your dog has Dental Issues or Beef Allergies
♦Make sure your dog does not consume more than 10% of their daily calories from treats like Bully Sticks to prevent the nationwide epidemic of Obesity. Active, fit dogs can consume more. A good rule of thumb is 80 calories per ounce of Bully stick.
♦Wash your hands with antibacterial soap after giving your dog a Bully Stick.
♦Pregnant women, young children, the elderly, sick or those with immune-system issues should not handle any animal body part treats of chews.
♦Some Bully Sticks in the marketplace can be treated with toxic solutions to clean them or to remove the odor. Insist that manufacturers of low-odor and odor-free bully sticks are making them with natural techniques.

]]>Our 'boutique' bully sticks will vary from batch to batch. Some batches will be thicker, thinner, chewier, crunchier or more aromatic than others (like vintages of fine wine.)
Imperfection is a sign of a natural product. Our bully sticks will rarely appear uniform in color or shape:
Our dog chews are hand-crafted, not made by machines. We want our customers to be 100% satisfied, so if you have any issues we will address them immediately. However, we cannot guarantee uniform sticks that will be the same every batch - this is actually a sign of a processed, mass-produced product. (Think Walmart frozen pizza crust vs one tossed at a local Italian pizzeria).
Bully sticks for small dogs, older dogs or those on a low-calorie diet:
Our 6" Thin, 12" Thin bully sticks, 4" Pretzels, 3" Hoops, 6" Spirals and Bites are great for gentle or beginner chewers.
Bully sticks for small to medium-size dogs who are not power-chewers:
Our 6" Standard, 6" Thick, 6" Braids, 12" Standard, 12" Thick are great for average chewers.
Bully sticks for large dogs, XL dogs:
For intense chewers, be sure to select 12" Extra Thick, 6" Jumbo, 12" Jumbo and 12" Monsters (when available)
Budget-friendly bully sticks:
In an effort to offer more affordability, we offer deep discounts on irregular sticks that do not make the cut for our premium label. You can find them sold as "bulk". They will be:
- Crunchy, which means they were in a part of oven where it may have gotten a bit too cooked. These will be dryer so they have less longevity. However, they are tolerated better. Most GI issues come from sticks with moisture in them.
- Ugly sticks, they just look a bit 'beat up' or deformed, but otherwise chew like a normal stick
- Higher than normal odor - we grade these out of our batches as having an odor which is offensive to average customer. If you can tolerate the smell some dogs actually prefer these - Sancho is one of them (ugh)
As a small growing company we constantly strive to adapt to the needs of our customers:
It is inefficient for a small company to grade, weigh and pack their own product, but we know customers want consistency so we have chosen to do so since 2015. We are committed to keep doing so as long as we can, but the reality is, small company labor costs makes it tough to be competitive and donate to rescues, so we are looking to outsource this (sigh, some day).
Since we do not cut corners on quality, we do so in other areas:
We spend very little resources on Advertising, relying mostly on word of mouth from regular customers.
We don't use expensive developers, photographers, marketing campaigns, etc. - we're sure it's quite obvious.
We do not pay "Review Clubs." It is costly for sellers to pay a review service to give away hundreds of units for FREE to get instant reviews. It has taken us over 3 years to get the ones we have.
We operate on faith that you will notice our quality products, well thought-out packaging, consistency in bags and our above-and-beyond customer service with hopes that you'll be inspired to share your buying experience.
Our #1 priority is safety:
Sancho & Lola are our kids. We know you feel this way about your pups too. Our manufacturers operate with the highest standards in safety testing. This is the most important factor in who we choose to partner with for all our products. Their facilities are GSFI, USDA or FDA inspected and approved. Several of our manufacturers have USDA human-grade facilities. We do not do business with ones that cut corners to offer 'bargain' prices.
Sancho & Lola are our resident quality control experts. Their tough job is to eat samples from every batch, every size we carry. They have never become ill from any of our treats-- they do get loose stools on occasion but this is a normal side effect for some dogs when they consume a lot in one sitting.
FAQ's
See the section below for tips and advice about the possible side effects bully sticks could have on your dog and what you can do to prevent them. Every dog is different. There is always a possibility that bully sticks will not agree with your dog's stomach. If you find this to be the case, know that we stand behind our product 100% and will allow you to return your purchase hassle-free.
Why do bully sticks cost so much?
There are very few bulls per herd (most male bovines are steers). Besides the heightened interest in bully sticks as people are learning about the hazards of rawhides, There is also a demand for beef pizzle in the restaurant industry where some cultures eat in soups as a delicacy (sorry for that visual). .
- Beef pizzle can only be harvested from bulls and steers. While muscle meat treats and bones come from ALL cattle (bulls, steers, heifers and cows.)
- Standard sized sticks and thicker have to come from bulls, not steers. Most ranches only have one bull per herd for safety reasons.
- Once harvested, the delicate raw pizzle has to be baked at a very low, specific temperature for several days.
Are bully sticks safe to give puppies?
Yes, bully sticks are fully digestible so they make a better treat for puppies than rawhide to satisfy their need to chew. But introduce slowly to avoid any upset stomach. Start with our fun shapes and our thinner sizes!
Can bully sticks give my dog loose stools?
Yes, just like changing your dog's food can. Some dogs just have a more sensitive digestive system than others. Both Sancho and Lola get softer stools but they enjoy them so much we still let them have them. Try adding canned pumpkin, ground flax seeds, chia seeds or plain yogurt/kefir to their diet which can aid in digestion and firm up stools.
Can bully sticks make my dog throw up?
This is not too common, but some dogs are more sensitive than others when it comes to treats, especially hard ones. Try introducing slowly and giving them pumpkin or yogurt. However, if your dog is a treat inhaler, you may want to use our 12 inch size and remove when they get down to the last couple of inches.
My dog has allergies to fillers like corn and wheat, do your bullys contain any additives?
No, our bullys are 100% beef - nothing else. As long as your dog can tolerate beef, he should be not have any issues related to cheap fillers. We also recommend that you try our Elk Jerky, Turkey Tendons and Duck Feet great for dogs with allergies.
How long are bully sticks supposed to last?
It can vary depending on the size stick you order to the size dog you have. You also have to factor in whether your dog is a power-chewer. So the answer is anywhere from several minutes to several days. This is why we offer so many choices. Bully Sticks are not meant to last as long as antlers and bones, they are "tissue & muscle.
Where are they sourced?
Our odor-free Charcuterie style bully sticks and steer sticks are strictly sourced from pizzles farmed in the USA. Our Traditional bully sticks are inspected, processed and packaged in the USA, but to secure year-round availability, our sourcing now includes pizzles farmed in all North America. Are they supposed to have a funky smell?
Yep, compliments of Mother Nature. There are many variables why some batches have more of a smell than others. We do our best to grade out the most offensive ones, but keep in mind, dogs love stinky things. Odor is a small sacrifice to make for your pup's enjoyment. Stick with our odor-free bullys and steers if smell is a deal-breaker for you.
What is the difference between a bull and a steer?
A"steer" is a bull that has been fixed. A "bull" is a male that is still in tact. Steer sticks typically have less density and less moisture. This enables them to be chewed and digested easier. For this reason, steer sticks are great for older dogs, puppies and dogs with sensitive stomachs.
Is there something we forgot?
We love hearing from our customers. Please call or email us if you have questions about batches, need advice on what size to order or just want to give us a suggestion. We do not have out-sourced virtual assistants who give "canned" responses - we actually answer every email and call personally contact us here."If given the opportunity, most small, family-owned businesses will have your best interest at heart and will help you if you are not absolutely pleased with your purchase."L.
